Live casino games are normally though like poker, blackjack, roulette and those traditional table games you can find in casino establishments. But live casinogames is more than that, its also live betting with sports such as football and ice-hockey.
The NHL is running hot. The World Cup is about to begin, and Lauri Markkanen is bagged baskets at a record pace in a Utah Jazz jersey in the NBA – the golden age of a Finnish sports fan at international level – and here are just a couple of excerpts from team sports. The Football Word Cup 2022 is certainly the most internationally watched tournament of all and is watched by millions of spectators, although the games are controversially played in Qatar, where the main stage is a city built specifically for the Games in 12 years, and its 87,000-seat capacity luhail arena. But now the main thing is not football, but let’s turn our eyes to North America and the NHL to the ice. What are the chances of Finnish NHL players lifting the winning trophy at the end of the season – is it Mikko Rantanen, Aleksander Barkov or Sebastian Aho– or are the Finns in the wrong teams again this year?
Finns on bucks ice
Finnish players have been used to being seen in NHL arenas for years, and this year won’t change that either, but what kind of chances do Finns have to lift that coveted Stanley Cup trophy at the end of this season? Finns play in NHL teams, as well as in lower-level farm leagues and at the university level, so this following listing is definitely not meant to be a complete listing, rather a list of the biggest Finnish stars, well-known players. All in all, there were about 80 Finnish players aiming for their Finnish position, and about 30 of them belong to the standard line-up. Last season, 62 Finnish players, including 11 goalies, were seen on NHL ice.
Colorado Avalanche
The Colorado Avalanche are one NHL team with chances to make it all the way to the finals this year. Mikko Rantanen and Artturi Lehkonen play for the Finns in Colorado, and both are key to the team’s success – Rantanen is both a scorer, but also a passing talent, and Lehkonen has proven that he can be a world-class scorer – but how Colorado will fare this season will be seen in the coming months. Colorado has started its season with 8 wins and five losses. Artturi Lehkonen kicked last season’s championship goal, and Mikko Rantanen was last season’s top Finnish scorer in both the regular season (36+56=92) and playoffs (5+20=25) – so the Finns have high expectations for Colorado this season as well. Colorado is also betting on the favorite for this season.
Florida Parthers
Florida is like Texas — a special place to play hockey. Florida, however, has spent his entire career pucking, and Florida hockey icon Aleksander Barkov, who year after year is one of his team’s mainstays, but unfortunately the team itself doesn’t seem to be quite at stanley cup winning level. Barkov is also joined by Olli Juolevi, Anton Lundell and Eetu Luostarinen and Markus Nutivaara – making them the most Finnish team in the NHL this season. Florida has started its season with nine wins and six losses.
Carolina Hurricanes
Year after year, the Hurricanes have had that kind of hurlumhe, for which Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teräväinen are to be thanked – when you add Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Antti Raanta to the goal mouth, we have quite a bit of Finnish coverage playing in Carolina. The team has its own chances of even the brightest lights. Carolina has started its own season with ten wins and 5 losses.
Esa Tikkanen has publicly singled out Carolina as one of his personal favorites this season, which he prefers last season. The only thing Tikkanen is worried about when it comes to the team is the team’s goalkeepers, as both Frederik Andersen and Antti Raanta are no longer young players. Tikkanen believes the team will be tough in the regular season, but the team lacks the necessary scope to take it all the way to the finals.
Dallas Stars
Dallas has started its own season reasonably well by taking 9 wins from its first 16 games. Dallas has been the home of many Finnish players for years, and this season, too, jani Hakanpää, Miro Heiskanen, Roope Hintz and Esa Lindell found a place in Texas – which means that Dallas trusts Finnish defenders. Dallas leads its own group.
Montreal Canadiens
The Montreal Canadiens are one of those legendary teams in Canada from whom the Canadians expect a result every season. Montreal’s season has got off to a coughing start with a balance of eight wins from 16 games played. The team consists of Finns Joel Armia and Sami Niku.
New York Rangers
There is only one Finn in the limelight of the millionaire city of New York. His place in the team seems to have been claimed by Kaapo Kakko, who is expected to have even more power this season. In the first 17 games, the Rangers have had a decent season with eight wins. Kakko has already managed to score this season, scoring 3 goals in the first 14 games – more is expected!
Seattle Kraken
Seattle is probably still more known for its music than for its new hockey team, but Joonas Donskoin transferred to Seattle this season, who is used to seeing a decent number of goals each season. The team’s season has got off to a good start and they have already picked up eight wins from 16 games in the beginning. Seattle got its own team in the NHL with the 2021 expansion. The team’s GM, Ron Francis, came at the helm from the Carolina Hurricanes. Ville Petman played ok during the training season, but there was no place in this season’s roster, at least not yet. Donskoi was used to seeing a good 10 goals each season when he played for San Jose and Colorado, but just over a season in Seattle has produced just two goals with 20 assists — would this season be better?
Columbus Blue Jackets
One of the power players of the last few years and seasons, Patrik Laine, is playing in Columbus colours – although right now due to injury, he is sidelined from games, and there is only one Finn on the ice to see Joonas Korpisalo – the team itself has made a poor start to the season – he has collected only five wins from 15 games he has played and last in his own group, with a goal tally of 22 goals on the red side.
Pittsburgh Penguins
The industrial city of Pittsburgh has been one of the toughest cities producing players for years, and this season Kasperi Kapanen is playing in the colors of this iconic team. Pittsburgh’s start to the season has been weak and isn’t necessarily expected to be a miracle this season.
New Jersey Devils
The Devils, who started the season at the top of their own group, are progressing with a 13-win record from 16 games and the team also includes Finn Erik Haula, who has his own goal account yet to open this season, but five assists have at least accumulated from games.
Nashville Predators
Nashville has had a poor start to the season, taking 8 losses from 15 games and below that in its own group are only Arizona and St. Loius. Mikael Granlund plays as the team’s second captain, and Eeli Tolvanen, Juuso Pärssinen and Juuse Saros will be seen on the ice. Of these, Pärssinen just got to play his first game – and immediately scored a goal.
In addition to these players and teams, Finns are also playing for the Winnipeg Jets, Vancouver, St. Louis Blues, San Jose, Minnesota, Edmonton, Los Angeles, Chicago, Calgary and Buffalo.
After 14-16 games at the beginning of the season , as usual, the Finns are not terribly at the top of the scoring charts. However, Mikko Rantanen already has 25 points and is the top scorer for the Finns, with Edmonton’s Connor McDavid at the top of the list with 32 points. Another small surprise is that the Finnish goalkeepers have not shone during the first half of the season, and none of them are in the TOP10 list. There are no Finns in the top list of defenses or newcomers in sight.
